Is this Slang ? and what this mean ? "wishing time away"

Good question, Luiza. I had never heard about it.
Well, it´s difficult to find the meaning of this expression, isn´t? But I found an article and I think it can be understood by the context. ;) I hope it helps. Here comes the link:

Well, what I could understand is we use it to express our willing to see the time goes by really fast because we are waiting for something better in the future. However, I think the expression is not used in a positive way. It´s something like we can´t enjoy the present because we are living a life or a moment that we would not like to have.

Anyway, let´s see if someone else has a different idea , hehehe;).
